Once the building plan for your YEIDA plot is approved, the practical work starts: power for construction, a permanent electricity connection, and water and sewer connections. They come from different bodies and at different stages. This guide sets out the sequence, using the UP Electricity Supply Code and YEIDA’s own forms. It does not quote charges, which are set by the supplier and change; ask for the current figures when you apply.

Key facts at a glance

  • Electricity in the YEIDA area is distributed by Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVNL), which runs a dedicated YEIDA division, according to its own tenders; confirm for your sector
  • Apply online for domestic connections up to 20 kW on UPPCL’s Jhatpat portal
  • Temporary supply for construction is allowed for up to two years under the Supply Code
  • YEIDA water and sewer connections are given after the completion certificate, against YEIDA’s charges
  • Rooftop solar: central and UP subsidies are available for homes with a valid electricity connection

Electricity: who supplies the YEIDA area

PVVNL’s tenders refer to an 11 kV division and a 33 kV line and substation unit for YEIDA, and PVVNL manages supply to Noida International Airport. Noida Power Company Ltd’s licence covers Greater Noida, a separate area. YEIDA reports electrification complete in some sectors and in progress in others. If you are unsure which office serves your plot, ask PVVNL’s YEIDA division before applying.

Temporary supply while you build

Under clause 4.10 of the UP Electricity Supply Code, 2005, a temporary connection can be given for building construction for up to two years. Apply at least 15 days ahead (30 days if poles or a mains extension are needed) with proof of ownership or a no-objection certificate. The supplier should give an estimate within a week and, for loads up to 50 kW, release the load within three days of payment. A “tatkal” temporary supply on 24 hours’ notice is available for an extra charge.

The permanent connection

  1. Apply. PVVNL directs domestic connections up to 20 kW to UPPCL’s Jhatpat portal; larger loads go through Nivesh Mitra.
  2. Documents (Supply Code, clause 4.4): proof of ownership or occupancy, a no-objection certificate from the local authority where required, the work completion and test certificate from a licensed electrical contractor, and the owner’s consent where applicable.
  3. Inspection and estimate. In electrified areas, inspection is to be offered within 10 days. If no new pole or cable is needed, charges are told on the spot; otherwise the estimate comes within 10 days of inspection.
  4. Pay and connect. Pay within seven days; supply follows within seven days of payment once the meter is installed and the agreement signed. Where the mains have to be extended, longer timelines apply.

Timelines in practice. Central rules amended in February 2024 set shorter targets for new connections: 3 days in metro areas, 7 days in other municipal areas and 15 days in rural areas. Which applies depends on your area’s classification; the supplier can tell you.

Water and sewer: YEIDA connections

  • Forms. YEIDA’s forms page offers a water connection form, a sewer connection form and a schedule of water and sewer connection charges.
  • After completion. Both forms require a copy of the completion certificate and the challan for the deposit, so these connections follow completion. YEIDA’s published service information says the water connection is given within three days of completion (after paying the connection fee and a year’s water charges in advance) and the sewer connection within seven days.
  • Plan stage. Your approved building plan must show the water supply, sewer and drainage lines and rainwater harvesting, and the completion checklist includes the receipt for water, sewer and meter charges.

See after a YEIDA allotment for the building-plan and completion steps.

Rainwater harvesting and solar

  • Rainwater harvesting. YEIDA’s building regulations require it to be shown on residential plans, and the building-plan portal includes architect certificates for it at sanction and completion.
  • Rooftop solar subsidies. Under PM Surya Ghar, the central subsidy is ₹30,000 to ₹60,000 for 1 to 2 kW and up to ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more, for households with a valid electricity connection. The UP Solar Energy Policy, 2022 adds a state subsidy of ₹15,000 per kW, up to ₹30,000 per consumer. Apply through the national portal; a net meter and discom inspection come before the subsidy is released.
